Video Otoscopes are medical instruments consisting of a rigid glass lens insertion tube, 1/4" CCD video camera chip, and a portable LED light handle. These are used to examine the external ear (the auditory meatus and especially the tympanic membrane), and to display the live image on a TV monitor for doctors, and patients to refer to. Also these units can be used to capture images, and to fit hearing aids in patients with hearing loss.
